We poured pressure onto the opposition, keeping the ball
for the vast amount of time and when we didn’t have the
ball we did not give them time and forced them to kick
possession straight back to us. In the first half the ball only
spent 45 seconds in our half, this shows just how dominant
we were. We went into the second half aiming for more of
the same, however it is never that easy. The John Hampden
lads, after being given a rollicking from their coach, were
fired up and up for it. We managed to hold strong for the
majority of the half, letting in a couple of tries but scoring
some of our own as well. The whistle blew to announce
another well-deserved victory. The John Hampden coach
said it was like watching men against boys.
This saw us through to the national stages of the
competition. Luck was not on our side as we were drawn
to play Sherbourne, another top side. Unfortunately we
were not able to beat Sherbourne, they were a well drilled
and clinical outfit. Even with this loss I am incredibly
proud to say I have been a part of this rugby team and
huge commendations to the whole of the team, we have
come on leaps and bounds, showing our true capability
and talent. A huge thank you to Mr Hill for giving up his
time to coach us and take us to matches, We would not
have got where we did without your coaching ideas and
strategies, creating a positive atmosphere bringing the
team together. Thank you.

Borlase Football
The football squads have produced some scintillating play
this year and held up the beautiful game with honour.
Sam Selbourne captained the year 7 side who played
some impressive football for their first year at the school.
Notable performances came from Julian Whitaker and
Richard Tomlins.
In Year 8 Oliver Till captained the side admirably whilst
the Emsley brothers continued to pressure the opposition
with their continued grit, skill and speed.
The Year 9 side played some of the best football in the
school which was reflected in their results, beating John
Hampden, Chesham Grammar and Wye Valley along the
way. Half football colours were awarded to Matt Casale,
Oliver Cooke and Robbie Tuckerman and full colours go to
Ronan Halpin.
The Year 10 side produced a 1999 Manchester United like
comeback against Princes Risborough in their opening
game and also beat Great Marlow comfortably. Full colours
were awarded to captain and goalkeeping star Cameron
Bruce and midfielder Luke Southby. Half colours went to
Joseph Thrush.
Year 8 squad
The 1
st
XI reached the final of the South Bucks VI form cup,
the first side to make a cup final for years. Despite losing
the final to Burnham Grammar the journey provided
some real highs, in particular a semi-final penalty shoot-
out win against cup holders Chesham Grammar. Year
11 boys Charlie Bull and Louie Fenwick played superbly
throughout the season and picked up their football
senior half colours accordingly. Other half colours went
to leavers Charlie Sheen, Ed Croft, Alex Harvey and new
arrivals Henry Barnett and Ally Brady who also takes over
the captaincy from George Prentice.
