Taking On The Austrians – and Succeeding!
Georgia Keys in year 7 has just trained and competed for Soll SchiClub, based in the Skiwelt, in the Tirol region of the
Austrian Alps.
Her races were a mix of Slalom, Giant Slalom, Technical and Combi races, with points being gained, depending on results,
to establish an overall series winner.
Georgia managed to finish 3
rd
overall in the
series, with a 1
st
place, 2 x 3
rd
places and a
4
th
place. This is competing against the best
Austrian girls in the region, who have been
racing on snow since the age of 5or 6!!
Next year Georgia moves into the Schuler
1 category, and will become eligible to
race in the Landes Cup races. If Georgia
does race in the Landes Cup races, then
this should almost certainly guarantee her
selection to the GB Under 14 Team, which
she becomes eligible for in Jan 2014.
Tennis report
AEGON Year 10 Schools Cup
2012
Borlase entered the AEGON Team Tennis competition this
year for the first time but drawing Wycombe Abbey in the
county round meant that the team all had to play their very
best tennis to ensure progress was made to the knockout
stages. Borlase played brilliantly well in all 6 matches and
came away with a 6 – 0 victory and through to the next
round.
The draw against Haberdashers Aske looked impossible
on paper with the countrys number one female in 3 age
groups leading their team. But after the singles Borlase only
needed to win one of the doubles to ensure they made it
through to the national semi finals. It was nail-biting stuff
but the 7-5 score in the final set confirmed Borlase’s place.
