U14 Girls’ Hockey
This season for the under 14 girls has been very positive in
terms of what to expect for the next few years. All being
quite close off the pitch, the team already had the spirit
needed. We played in a few matches at the beginning
of the year which were hit and miss but that was due
not picking up a hockey stick for the last five months.
Nevertheless, we were improving.
We had a county tournament which we approached with
a positive attitude: sadly the confidence did not last the
day because we came home without getting through to
the next round. Failing is not necessarily failure: this sums
up the tournament very well. I feel as though we played
our best hockey and became mentally ready for future
challenges as a squad – so the benefits outweighed our
loss.
The squad was as follows:
Charlotte Neal (GK), Natasha Taylor, Rhianna Cross, Hollie Bannister, Ella Tidy, Ella Kennedy, Grace Whitehead, Grace
Harding, Stephanie Inch, Hannah Jackson, Annabelle Avery, Polly Dixon, Jess Minshull-Beech, Ellie Bilsland and Freya
Bull.
Thank you very much to Miss Hewitt and Mr Irving who were both a lot of help to ensure we stayed focused and
improving. An overall encouraging season and looking forward to some brilliant hockey next year!

U16 Girls’ Hockey
The girls U16 hockey season 2012 –13 saw one main highlight when the team, which was primarilyYear 10 players, made
it through the first county tournament beating, Wycombe High, Beaconsfield High and Chesham High.
Unfortunately the girls couldn’t maintain this form in the final stages so they were unable to qualify for the South by
the narrowest of margins. Having said that younger players such as Frankie Butler and Emily Hacking put in enormous
amounts of effort, in both their work rate and commitment, which bodes well for the future.
At indoor, however, the 9 player young squad went from strength to strength and played well in each of the qualifying
rounds with an exceptional performance in the south final when they beat both St Georges 3-2 and then Cranleigh 4 –0
to win the South title outright.
The girls looked set to finish at least one position better than last year at the Indoor finals when they were 3
rd
and started
their campaign by narrowly losing to Wakefield High. Despite going behind against Repton they pulled it back but
without any luck on their side the girls drew that match and then narrowly lost to Coopers keeping them just out of the
top 4 and a place in the semi finals.
Abbey Griffiths and Ellie Wheeler were particularly strong at the back throughout all matches but the work rate put in
from the rest of the squad and the noticeable improvement throughout the weekend of the younger players means the
squad can look forward to trying again in 2 years with real confidence.
