Colonel’s Meadow we had a parents’ area for parents to
relax and have a seat, chat to other parents and enjoy the
sunshine while watching the track events. Alongside this
the House Rowing Challenge took place under the shade
of the trees, with the rowers’ competition being closely
fought and the non-rowers’ competition helped along by
those that did row, which was great to see.
Down into the middle of the school and the Community
Club Sports Stands were set up for pupils to go and find
out more about getting involved and joining, along with
taster sessions in fencing, badminton and Zumba running
throughout the day for pupils to have a go and see what
they think. Around to the food area and the canteen ran
a BBQ throughout the day with cold drinks and ice creams
on sale as normal. House design face painting was on
offer for pupils to get their representative letter and
design on their face which seemed very popular looking
at the queues!
Pupils signed up for alternative roles for Sports Day such
as face painter, journalist, photographer, videographer,
award nominators, flag bearers, results table officials,
assistants to running all the athletics competitions and
sports competitions and of course taking part in all the
sports and athletics. The day seemed very popular and
all enjoyed themselves, especially with the weather being
kind to us. Roll on 2013 and another jam packed sports
day here at Borlase!
