Mr Tidbury
How long have you been at Borlase?
About five or six years I think – I’m not sure.
It’s five years
Five years then.
And what are your plans for the future – away from the
best job you’ve ever had?
I’m going to be the Head of Maths at Wycombe Abbey.
What will you miss most about Borlase?
[laughs] Probably the students. They’re a great bunch here,
they’re really nice kids.
What would you say have been the best moments
here?
Going on world challenge to Borneo was amazing.
What’s your opinion on the surplus of food that will go
unstolen once you have left?
I do feel I am doing a disservice to the students in leaving
because the obesity rates at Borlase will skyrocket now
that I’m not eating every student’s food. I have trained Mr
Dwyer up though so he will be stealing food in my stead
once I have left. But he won’t be starting until I’ve actually
gone.
We’ve just been talking to Miss Moore about her
favourite part of being Head of Maths, so what do you
think is your favourite part about being, you know
, not
Head of Maths?
Not having to do the Head of Maths job – actually getting
to do some teaching.
What is the best tip you’d be able to give a newcomer
to Borlase?
Get involved. In everything. Go along to the amazing
performing arts stuff, get involved with sports things, go
and watch some of the sports teams because there’s so
much going on here that you’ve got to get involved with
as much as possible, I think.
What’s your most embarrassing moment?
There was an embarrassing incident at a previous school
where a young lady stood up and realised her wrap around
skirt had come undone and fallen down.
If you have four apples in one hand and two melons in
the other and they remain in your hands for the course
of this question what do you have?
Very big hands.
He’s done it – he’s got the answer. Would you be able to
sum up your time here at Borlase in three words.
That’s not possible.
Have you ever made a student cry? Without stealing
their cake?
Yes. By being very very disappointed in them.
Favourite book?
It’s probably Pride and Prejudice
Favourite film?
The Italian job.
Good choice. Okay, favourite song?
Creep by Radiohead.
And the last question is if you could only listen to four
bands/artists for the rest of your life who would they
be?
Um... Bowie, the Clash, Wagner, and Hayseed Dixie who are
a bluegrass heavy metal cover band.
Bit varied. That’s certainly interesting. Thank you.
