Above
and Beyond Fund
or through another school development
appeal this year. Your support is really appreciated. Over
this academic year, fundraising has raised over £37,000 for
the
Above and Beyond Fund
(at the time of going to press)
which is a 19% increase on the year before.
Fundraising
The
Above and Beyond Fund
continues to grow steadily.
The following are projects completed in 2012. Of note we:
•
Built a wet weather shelter
•
InstalledWi-Fi throughout the school
•
Purchased 32 new laptops
•
Re-decorated the library and separated out rooms for
STEM and MFL *
•
More than doubled the library seating
•
Introduced a dedicated 6
th
form study area
•
Installed new energy efficient, but brighter lighting in
the library
* Literacy, Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) &
Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
“Now when we come to the library there are new books and
a new layout. There is more room to chat about different
subjects and read newspapers. We now come at breaks and
at lunch.
It is more flexible which we like but if we want one of the new
laptops we need to be quick! Now the library is more active
because more people interact with each other”.

Above and Beyond Fund
What is the
Above and Beyond Fund
?
The
Above and Beyond Fund
runs every academic year to
raise income for projects of immediate need around the
school. This is the second year of the fund and the projects
funded will enhance and broaden the life and educational
experience of the students at Borlase.
Why does Borlase need to raise funds?
Borlase has no endowment fund, but as an academy we
believe that the education we deliver rivals that of many
independent schools. Some of our facilities need new
investment in order for us to maintain the high standard
of education we offer.
Who supports the
Above and Beyond Fund
?
Anyone can support the
Above and Beyond Fund
and
become involved. We encourage a wide ranging
community – parents, grandparents, old Borlasians,
governors, trusts and companies. Therefore we look to the
Borlase community to invest in the future of our students.
All support is greatly valued – no matter what the size of
the gift. Together we can make a huge difference to our
students’ education.

Leavers’ Gift Donations (2013 cohort)
Thank you to all parents who have supported this new
initiative. A number of students and parents indicated
that they wanted to make a leaving gift, either to the
school in general (through the
Above and Beyond Fund)
, or
to a particular department as a way of saying thank you.
Donations are still coming in (thank you), and it is still not
too late to donate. Do contact the Development Office if
you wish to do so.
