Year 9 French Exchange 2012
What a trip!
We arrived in Marly-le-Roi on 22
nd
June and left on 29
th
June.
On the first Sunday, my exchange partner, Jade, took me to
the local market which happens every Sunday. This was a
really memorable experience to be able to go to a proper
French market and see the many different stalls of cheese
and cakes, which looked delicious. On Monday 25
th
June,
I was lucky enough to be in Paris for my Birthday and visit
the “Arche de la defense”. When I arrived home that day
Jade and I made a strawberry cheesecake, which was my
birthday cake! On the Tuesday we visited Versailles and
its gardens, which were stunning and a great spectacle.
Wednesday we visited Notre Dame and saw the Sacré
Coeur, where I did the typical tourist thing of buying a
painting!
My favourite day by far was Thursday because we were
lucky enough to go up the Eiffel Tower, which had themost
amazing view of Paris in all directions. We followed this
with a trip to the ’arc de triomphe” and finally the Champs
Elysees where I wished I had taken more spending money
with me. The journey home was a sad one as we had to
say goodbye to all our exchange friends. I learnt a lot of
French whilst on my trip and have kept in touch with Jade
on Facebook. Overall the trip was a great success and I will
always remember it! I would like to say “merci beaucoup”
to the staff who came with us and to Mrs Hopper who
organized the trip.

L’Echange Scolaire Français –
Je pense que l’échange français était une expérience
formidable dans l’ensemble. Même si j’étais déjà allée
plusieurs fois à Paris c’était bien de visiter des monuments
célèbres avec mes amis. Une de mes excursions préférées
était notre visite aux Champs Elysées. J’en ai vraiment
profité car il y avait beaucoup à voir, du parc près du Petit
Palais jusqu’à l’Arc de Triomphe, mais mes amies et moi
sommes allées dans le magasin « Pommes de Paris » où
chacun a acheté une énorme glace délicieuse. Nous nous
sommes ensuite promenées au magasin de luxe ‘Louis
Vuitton’ où nous avons admiré les sacs fantastiques !
Nous avons visité beaucoup de monuments à Paris et aussi
le palais de Versailles. Mais une journée à Paris il faisait trop
chaud – 33 degrés ! Nous avons passé la plupart du temps
à la recherche de l’ombre. Nous avons quand même passé
un bon moment là-bas et j’espère y retourner pour rendre
visite à ma correspondante française.
