Out of School
After visiting the amazing cathedral and walking around
the rest of the town, I was quite hungry and ate the nicest
sausage of my life, followed by a cream and chocolate
waffle and some delicious German bread. (
Viktor
)
We went to the cathedral. It was huge! There were gold
paintings inside and a huge dome. I took many pictures,
because it was so jaw-dropping. (
Imre
)
On the second day of the market, we went into the
cathedral in Aachen and it was the largest and most
marvellous thing I have ever laid my eyes on! The artwork
and patterns along the walls and the ceilings were
magnificently designed and extraordinarily beautiful!

I had a great day and loved seeing the magnificent
cathedral and exploring the market. (
Ben
)
We spent twenty minutes looking for the much talked-
about Bärenland. I’msure that I spent half ofmy inheritance
in this shop, but not one cent felt misused. (
Ethan
)
I spent about 30 euros there. I bought a big gummy bear,
which I ate on the journey back, a kilo bag of small gummy
bears, which I ate on the journey back and a pot of scented
gummy bears, which I ate on the journey back. (
Fraser
)
At four o’clock on the Saturday afternoon, the 44 of us
made our way back to the bus. We were all very tired, but
we had had one of the best weekends ever. It was brilliant,
crazy and lots of fun. I want to go back. (
Sarah
)
The Aachen Christmas market was one of the best
experiences I have ever had. Everything there is so nice and
the people there are nice too. I am sad now that it is over,
but it is something to look back on and it is something that
I will treasure and cherish for the rest of my life. (
Grace
)
Aachen was a truly amazing experience and I really would
like to go again. (
Charlie
)
Aachen was a very interesting and very useful school trip. I
enjoyed it very much. All in all, it was an amazing trip and I
wish I could do it again. (
Imre
)
The trip couldn’t have been better and was well worth it!
(
Alex G
)
All in all, I found this trip delightful and a great way to get
Christmas presents for my family. The trip back was rather
glum, as we were leaving the snow and all our gadgets
were out of battery. (
Ethan
)
Aachen turned out to be one of the best trips I have ever
been on. (
Nick
)
It was a great experience in Aachen and I really enjoyed
putting my German skills and phrases to use, whilst also
having fun with friends in a new atmosphere. (
Becky
)
Going to Aachen was one of the most exciting and
enjoyable things I have ever done, especially as I had
never been to Germany before! The whole experience was
amazing and I have taken away fond memories from it.

Year 10 German Exchange 2013
Forty pupils from our partner school in Saarburg came to
spend aweekwith us inApril.They visited London,Windsor
and Oxford and spent a day in school enjoying lessons
which had been tailor-made for them – making metal
spoons and flapjacks, writing postcards home, learning
about British history and observing science experiments.
They also attended an assembly in the Chapel and a house
assembly. There was a joint trip to London to see Billy Elliot
for the English and German partners.
There follows a selection of comments from the English
group:-
“The first part of the exchange was very good, especially
the trip to London. My exchange partner’s English was
extremely good.” (Nik)
“Although it was quite tiring having an exchange student
over for a whole week, it was an exciting and helpful
experience and I really benefited from it. I had a great time
and have met many new people who are now friends.”
(Catrin)
“The exchange was brilliant. I was surprised at how good
their English was. They were amazed at how much there
was to do in Marlow.” (Sophie L.)
“I really enjoyed it, even though it was a little bit awkward
to begin with, but mostly it was really fun.” (Sophie M.)
“It was good to get to know my partner and I wish they
could spend more time with us.” (Himal)
“My partner (and most people’s partners) was very polite
and friendly.” (Ben D.)
“I got on really well with my partner throughout the week.
She loved all the trips she went on and had lots to tell me
when she got back each day.” (Liddy)
“It was amazing. She is so nice and we got on really well.
I loved our trip to London, but I wish that we could have
gone on more trips – they sounded brilliant. I can’t wait to
go back!” (Maddy)
