Old Borlasians
It took me until 1972 before I became the proud owner of
such a model, which we used as family transport for many
years until we had too many children to fit into the car. The
car was taken off the road but deteriorated, to the point
where over the past few years I have had to totally restore
it to its present Concours condition. It, however, was worth
all the efforts as it won its class in the 2011 national owners
club Concours at Greenwich.
If Robin had not inspired us with his enthusiastic design
analysis of this iconic model, I would have missed out
on many years of enjoyable motoring and the constant
pleasure of the aesthetic qualities of the car, as Keats said,
“ A thing of beauty is a joy forever “ Thank you Robin for
the inspiration and also for the support in relation to my
interest in architecture and design.
